JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ala. —
Wednesday, leaders from Birmingham Jefferson County Port Authority (BJCPA) and Watco cut the ribbon on the new 25,000-square-foot facility at the Port of Birmingham.
Marc Massoglia, senior vice president of commercial at Watco, believes Birmingham's location makes it the perfect place for the new warehouse.
"We think Birmingham is one of the fastest growing locations in America for manufacturing," Massoglia said. "We want to be part of that growth. We want to be a solution for shippers and receivers so that we can grow with the state of Alabama and in particular with the Birmingham area."
The new facility is expected to bring an estimated $1.2 million in direct economic impact and $8 million in total projected impact.
