COSBY, Tenn. (WATE) — More than a dozen dogs found living in squalid conditions were recovered from a Cocke County home last month. One person was charged with animal cruelty.
Cocke County Animal Control responded to a home on English Mountain Road on May 14 and met with a property owner who had come up from Florida to check on her home. The property owner had been informed that the tenant who was renting the property had moved out of state.
Jodi Rank, the now-former tenant, was charged with misdemeanor cruelty to animals.
According to an incident report, a total of 16 dogs were found at the property. The reporting animal control officer observed trash and feces throughout the building and no food or water, though they later wrote that some dog food was found mixed in the trash.
