Alive Hospice announced Tuesday that Amir Hamad will serve as the organization's CEO, effective June 30.

Hamad most recently served as vice president and chief nursing officer at Ascension Saint Thomas West Hospital.

Hamad became an EMT at age 15 and went on to earn a B.S. degree in nursing from Radford University and a master's degree in health care administration at Grantham University, according to a press release. He was named to Alive's board in June 2024 .

In February, then-CEO Kerry Hamilton stepped down after less than a year in the role , citing family matters.
