(WENY) -- Parts of the Midwest and Northeast U.S. have been dealing with lowered air quality thanks to smoke from wildfires in Canada. Though air quality remains at a non-hazardous level, several precautions can help you stay safe.

Two years ago, fires in nearly every Canadian province would contribute to an otherworldly haze that hungover the Northern United States for several days in May and June. Today, wildfire season in the Great White North has once again brought down air quality in several states, including New York and Pennsylvania.

Parts of Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan have had the worst of it, with air quality levels spiking in unhealthy ranges. The Twin Tiers has seen some hazy skies as a result of the shift in winds, but AQI (Air Quality Index) remains at moderate level
