OKLAHOMA CITY (KAMR/KCIT) — Texas Tech will be playing for a national title in its Women’s College World Series debut, facing Big 12 rival Texas in a best-of-three championship series beginning Wednesday night.
The Red Raiders earned their spot in the final with a dramatic 3-2 win over four-time defending champion Oklahoma on Monday, a team they had beaten only seven times in 75 previous meetings.
Texas Tech led 2-0 entering the seventh inning before Oklahoma tied the game with a two-run homer. Junior right-hander NiJaree Canady, recently named the 2025 NFCA Pitcher of the Year, responded with a strikeout to end the frame and preserve the tie.
