MINOT, N.D. (KMOT) - The Roosevelt Park Zoo is roaring with excitement these days! Zoo staff are celebrating the recent births of four tiger cubs.

Amur tigers Finn and Zoya welcomed four new cubs last month.

The cubs are healthy and are gaining nearly a pound every three days.

Zoo Director Logan Wood said breeding Finn and Zoya has been in the works for several years.

He said this is huge for their conservation efforts, as it comes at a time when there are only about 500 Amur tigers left in the wild.

“We’re taking these genetics that are highly sought after, and we’re being able to successfully breed these animals within that, hopefully in a couple years, those animals can be paired and then have their offspring,” said Wood.
