PUTNAM, Conn. — A program designed to assist drivers with autism or hearing difficulties is helping improve communication between drivers and police during traffic stops across Connecticut .

The Blue and Green Envelope Program provides drivers with an envelope that lists instructions to help manage encounters with law enforcement for both police officers and drivers.

The initiative aims to eliminate miscommunication and reduce anxiety for drivers who may struggle during these interactions.

Blake Lagerstrom, a driver from Plainfield who has autism, said the blue envelope helped him feel more prepared when he was stopped earlier this year after mistakenly attempting to pass through a roadblock.
