To ensure public outreach around the various stages of the voter-approved “ST3” projects, Councilmember Maritza Rivera (District 4) brought an amendment to the Light Rail Essential Public Facility Permitting process at the June 4 meeting of the Land Use Committee, which passed 3-0 (with two abstentions).
The amendment directs the agency to submit a community outreach report that shares information about which stakeholders have been targeted for outreach and what the results were.
“This amendment, which is supported by the Mayor’s office, will not add delays or costs to the projects,” said Councilmember Rivera . “Sound Transit is already doing the outreach; this legislation just requires them to share a report of their outreach at the time they submit their permit application.”
