HILLSDALE CO., Mich. (WILX) - In high-stress moments, the smallest details can make the biggest difference.
With that in mind, the Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Office is using a new tool to better support those on the autism spectrum.
For Jennifer Rothrock’s children, Glada and Daxton , both on the autism spectrum, a meltdown can go from stressful to unsafe.
“They don’t realize when these kids are escalated, it becomes really violent in the home,” said Rothrock.
Rothrock has called for help and says law enforcement doesn’t always know how to interact with her kids. Now, deputies in Hillsdale County are using a new tool to help when they encounter those on the spectrum, sensory kits.
