CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) — Harrison County residents may be subjected to a tax increase or a levy in the near future as the county looks to fill the need for volunteer firemen.

On Wednesday, county commissioners discussed how the lack of available volunteer firemen is affecting residents. Though an exact route has yet to be determined for how to handle the issue, the Harrison County Commission is looking at other counties' solutions for inspiration, as well as speaking with concerned residents.

"Some of the counties in the state have gone on to hire some full-time employees to work with the volunteers. We're not saying that's the answer here, but it's something for us to look at. We want to make sure that the people of Harrison County get the proper fire response and emergency response,"
