NEW HAVEN, Conn. — New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker released a scathing statement Wednesday, criticizing Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont for not providing enough funding for urban area school districts.
The statement followed the passing of the biennial state budget for fiscal years 2026 and 2027 by both chambers of the Connecticut General Assembly late Tuesday. Lamont has indicated he will sign the budget into law.
Elicker was complimentary of New Haven’s state delegation and its efforts to increase funding that the city will receive through the PILOT program and from the Supplemental Revenue Sharing Grant, which will help support municipal services.
