MIDVALE — Midvale City is revitalizing its arts and culture district with new paintings and murals. The murals will be on display during Saturday’s Los Muros on Main : Midvale City Mural Festival.
Midvale officials said the city’s Main Street has fallen into disrepair. But for the fourth year in a row, they’ve chosen artists to paint murals in a six-to-eight-block stretch.
Artists were chosen to paint murals on the walls of businesses, which, according to Assistant City Manager Nate Rockwood, cuts down on graffiti.
“They still get tagged, but it’s actually less likely they get tagged. There’s almost a credibility on the street of ‘You don’t tag a mural.'”
The city reviewed more than 100 entries by artists for this year’s festival. Some of the artists will be painting their murals live
