CINCINNATI (WKRC)— As the new COVID-19 variant NB.1.8.1 continues to spread, health experts are warning that its symptoms can closely resemble those of allergies and the common summer cold.
Dr. Stephen Feagins, a public health specialist in Ohio, explained that a chronic cough is a common symptom of all these conditions. He advised paying attention to the timing of the cough's onset.
"If it's suddenly come on after a wet spring or seasonal blooms, it's likely something irritating from above, allergic rhinitis, dripping down, irritating the diaphragm," said Hamilton County Public Health Medical Director Dr. Feagins.
