A suspect is in custody at the Cole County Jail and facing charges including domestic assault following a police incident in Jefferson City Tuesday afternoon.

Danuan Washington, 21, is charged with third-degree domestic assault, unlawful use of a weapon, two counts of armed criminal action, unlawful possession of a firearm and resisting arrest following a brief standoff with Jefferson City police in the area of Olive Street and High Street .

Jefferson City police said they received a call around 2 p.m. Tuesday reporting a domestic assault. The victim reported that during an argument, a 21-year-old Jefferson City resident and the father of her child had stuck her face and produced a black handgun. The suspect then allegedly attempted to pistol-whip her, according to court documents.
