DAYTON (WKRC) - Moeller was the heavy favorite in Region 3 to win the bracket and advance to the Final Four, but the Crusaders ran into a dominant pitching rotation in Lakota West and the Firebirds defeated Moeller 3-2 to advance to the Final Four for the first time since 2017.

The region champs claim their title thanks to a couple of dominant games on the mound. A 1-0 over Olentangy Liberty on Tuesday, only allowing just three hits, and followed up that performance on Wednesday against Moeller by only giving up two hits and two runs.

Lakota West got the win by playing small ball. A squeeze attempt bunt in the second inning, and a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning gave the Firebirds two of their three runs. Senior pitcher Adrian Smith shined on the mound, with a complete game as Lakota W
