BETHEL, Conn. — Advocates for youth programming in Bethel are celebrating this week after the town secured a serious allotment in the newly passed state budget.

Bethel youth programs will receive $150,000, as was announced Tuesday by state Rep. Raghib Allie-Brennan, who helped bring home the funding.

A total of $75,000 will go to Kind Works, Inc. to launch a new afterschool program. The other $75,000 is earmarked for the Friends of Bethel Parks and Recreation, Inc. to improve the Teen Center in the town’s municipal facility.

Allie-Brennan said in a release that the money won’t just fund programs; it will create long-term opportunities for young people to thrive.
