HOUSTON, Texas (KBTX) - Texas A&M linebacker Scooby Williams played the majority of last season with a torn meniscus, head coach Mike Elko confirmed Wednesday at the Houston A&M Club Coach’s Night.

“Obviously, whenever you have those kind of things, you let the medical professionals kind of run the show,” Elko said prior to the event at the Bayou City Event Center. “And they did and our doctors sat down with him and they kind of went over what it all looked like. And I just think it’s credit to the kid’s toughness that he wanted to tough it out.”

Williams suffered the injury on the first play of the first drive of of the Notre Dame game last year, on the same play cornerback Dalton Brooks was ejected for targeting, Elko told the audience at the event.
