MORGANTON, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- A previously convicted Burke County man is charged with a string of felonies after six firearms were reportedly discovered in his vehicle over the weekend.

On Sunday, June 1, deputies with the Burke County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on a Jeep Cherokee, claiming it was displaying a fictitious license plate. The driver was identified as 34-year-old Tyler Dwayne South, who had an outstanding order for arrest for failure to appear in Mitchell County.

According to the sheriff’s office, a vehicle search resulted in the following items allegedly being seized: • Six firearms with ammunition, • 16 grams of fentanyl, • 1 gram of methamphetamine, • Alprazolam tablets, • Marijuana, and • Drug paraphernalia.
