OROVILLE, Calif. - The family of murder victim Ronnie Frazier is expressing their frustration after a judge decided that the 17-year-old suspect, who is now 19, will remain in juvenile court rather than be tried as an adult.
Prosecutors said Frazier was shot on Myers Street in May 2023 while leaving his father's house. The alleged shooter, who was 17 at the time, has been in juvenile hall since the incident. On Monday, a Butte County judge ruled that the accused will not be tried as an adult.
"Honestly it feels inappropriate, he's now a grown man in juvenile hall and knowing that he's a violent offender and knowing that he's not being held accountable is a slap on the wrist," said Moriah Ridenour, Frazier's aunt. "We aren't getting justice at all," Ridenour said.
