DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — A fire broke out at a duplex in Durham late Wednesday afternoon, emergency personnel said.

According to the Durham Fire Department, the fire was reported in the 2400 block of Owen Street around 6:20 p.m. First responders saw heavy smoke from the roof.

Forty-seven Durham firefighters responded to the blaze, which was extinguished in approximately 10 minutes. Durham County EMS and Duke Energy provided assistance at the scene, according to the department.

The department said two families were displaced after they fire. The American Red Cross is providing lodging to both, according to the fire department.

According to the fire department, no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
