MANCHESTER, N.H. —
Mayor Jay Ruais is picking up support in his bid for re-election, as he faces no Democratic challenger.
On Wednesday, the Manchester firefighters' union announced its endorsement of Ruais for a second term.
Union leaders cited his support for their contract and his efforts to push for changes to the Group 2 retirement system at the State House.

"These heroes represent the very best of who we are in the city of Manchester, and it is a privilege beyond words to be able to serve them as mayor," Ruais said.
Ruais is currently facing one opponent, fellow Republican and Alderman Crissy Kantor.
