KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — We are learning more about the Richard L. Bean Juvenile Detention Center in Knox County. It has been almost one week since Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs made a public statement regarding the center.
This comes after now-former superintendent Richard Bean fired two employees in apparent retaliation for reporting problems at the detention center. Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs told 6 News he first found out about the issues two weeks ago and is working to right the wrongs at the center.
"Judge [Timothy] Irwin called me and said that he had a pretty serious issue going on," Jacobs said.
Jacobs said reports indicated there was some form of medical malfeasance in overall healthcare as well as the use of medication.
