OAKLAND CO., Mich. (WILX) - A West Bloomfield mother is facing criminal charges, accused of sending her three-year-old child to child care with a loaded gun.

34-year-old Kelly Reid is charged with reckless use of a firearm. Prosecutors say she dropped off her toddler at day care with a backpack that was supposed to contain the child’s snack, but when an employee opened the bag they found the loaded weapon.

Prosecutors say Reid put the firearm in the backpack to carry it to and from her car, but failed to take it out before dropping off her child.
