MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Southside Elementary will be hiring a new principal and assistant principal following an investigation into the school’s leadership team, according to a letter to parents from Madison Metropolitan School District Superintentendent Dr. Joe Gothard.
In October of 2024, Superintendent Dr. Joe Gothard sent a letter to parents concerning former Principal Candace Terrell and Assistant Principal Annabel Torres.
MMSD previously confirmed with WMTV the district was conducting an investigation into the elementary school after parents and staff expressed concerns about the classroom environment.
Andrea Kreft, a long-time MMSD administrator, has been serving as interim principal.
Dr. Gothard said the hiring process will begin soon.
