(KRON) -- Multiple vehicles were damaged after a tire went loose Wednesday morning on Highway 280 in Cupertino, the Santa Clara County Fire Department (SCCFD) announced. Around 10:34 a.m., fire crews responded to a vehicle crash, which stemmed from the loose tire, on I-280 near Foothill Expressway.
The tire broke off and separated from a vehicle going southbound, officials said. It then bounced into the northbound lanes of I-280, striking another vehicle. More vehicles -- although the number wasn't specified by SCCFD -- were damaged while they were trying to avoid the tire.
One vehicle's windshield was cracked after being struck by the tire (see photo below). No serious injuries were reported, said SCCFD.
