BIRMINGHAM, Ala. —

WVTM 13 is learning about a possible new tactic the Trump Administration is using to detain migrants. Some reported one of those methods is already being used in Central Alabama.

Immigration advocates said ICE agents were seen in several areas across Alabama Wednesday detaining people as they were checking in with field offices. The agency said these check-ins are an annual requirement to stay part of the Immigration Surveillance Program.

WVTM 13 asked why people were being detained, but Allison Hamilton with Alabama Coalition for Immigrant Justice said it’s still unclear to her.
