đ„Game of the Night
With just over one minute left to play, Kerrin McGovern scored the goal that gave the second-seeded La Salle girls lacrosse team its first lead in its Division I semifinal against No. 3 East Greenwich.
Then she went out and made the play that won the game.
Wednesday was a rough start for the Rams, who dug themselves a five-goal deficit in the first half before slowly climbing out of it. La Salle built momentum at the end of the third quarter and carried it into the fourth when McGovern struck with 1:05 left, then won the ensuing draw that allowed the Rams to kill out the clock on a 10-9 win over the Avengers and earn a spot in this weekendâs RIIL Girls Lacrosse State Championship game.
After the first quarter, that outcome didnât seem possible.
