A windy Wednesday morning was the backdrop for the addition of a splash of color to Santa Fe's City Hall, as city officials and residents gathered for the raising of a Pride flag.

The small gathering took place under the specter of a national rollback in protections for LGBTQ+ people under the Trump administration, something several people highlighted as making the occasion more important than ever.

Kevin Bowen, director of the Santa Fe Human Rights Alliance, urged those in attendance to ask their friends to participate in Pride month events to show their support for the LGBTQ+ community.

"We have to turn up this year, more than ever," he said.

The Human Rights Alliance is planning 19 Pride month events this year, Bowen said, including a Pride parade in Madrid, drag bingo at Tumbleroot
