People living in central Idaho may have felt the ground shake beneath their feet as multiple earthquakes occurred throughout the region over the last few days, according to the U.S. National Weather Service.
By 6 p.m. on June 4, 49 earthquakes above 2.5 magnitude had been recorded since June 1.
Most of the earthquakes were located just northwest of Stanley, along the Sawtooth Fault, a 40-mile fault line running along the Sawtooth Mountain Range.
Around 5 p.m. on Wednesday, a 4.0 earthquake was also recorded.
The NWS said the earthquakes are aftershocks from a 6.5 magnitude earthquake that occurred in the region in 2020.
