LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- Dozens of families packed the Clark County Government Wednesday to speak out against a proposed NV Energy rate hike.

"Our electricity bills are already too high," an NV Energy customer said. "Families across our state are stretched to the limit."

Maria Preneice, a retiree on a fixed income, was one of many who spoke with 8 News Now on her concern over a potential change to her monthly payment.

"I still have a high bill," Preneice said. "And I haven't even started with my air conditioning yet."

The Public Utilities Commission of Nevada held two public sessions on Wednesday to get feedback on a potential 9.5 percent base rate increase.
