One day after a newcomer contributed to the team's best offensive output in almost three weeks, the San Francisco Giants hope for more from another fresh face when they seek a four-game series split with the visiting San Diego Padres on Thursday afternoon.

With Daniel Johnson chipping in with two hits and two runs, the Giants ended a streak of 16 consecutive games with four or fewer runs when they rallied from a 5-0 deficit to stun the Padres 6-5 on Wednesday night.

The relative explosion occurred after the Giants had dropped 1-0 and 3-2 decisions, both in 10 innings, to open the series, continuing an offensive slump that resulted in a roster shake-up before Wednesday's game.
