SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) -Surface low pressure is drifting toward the Carolina coast, and the flow of moisture continues to keep the Suncoast primed for showers and thunderstorms. However, the pattern is slightly different. As the low lifts up toward inland areas of the Carolinians and Virginia, high pressure will get an opportunity to expand eastward over Florida from the Atlantic waters. Along with some Saharan dust, this will tend to suppress showers close to the coast, while the sea breeze is allowed to push inland and carry a moisture plum and the showers and thunderstorms along. In this scenario most rain will fall inland, and storms will drift toward the other coast.

Our rain chance near the coast will be about 40% in the late morning hours then 50% to 60% inland later in the afternoo
