With the passage of Assembly Bill 224, the Nevada Legislature has taken a long-overdue step toward addressing one of the state’s most pressing and overlooked crises: the crumbling condition of public schools in our smallest, most isolated counties.

This is not just successful bipartisan legislative action, it is moral leadership. We offer our gratitude to Assemblymember Erica Mosca for championing this bill and to the lawmakers on both sides of the aisle who recognized that every child, no matter their ZIP code, deserves a safe and functional place to learn.

Now, the future of this critical measure rests with Gov. Joe Lombardo. We urge him to sign AB 224 without delay.
