Hurricane's Weston Smith has been the cornerstone for the baseball Redskins the last few seasons, especially this year as a senior.
Smith's importance has come in different forms as he pitches, hits and plays center field.
The West Virginia University signee has batted an impressive .350, knocked out three home runs, driven home 35 RBIs and clubbed eight doubles going into the Class AAAA state tournament this week.
Smith has also been prolific on the mound, posting an ERA of 1.17. He's struck out 88 batters and has only allowed 10 earned runs.
"He has done it on the field and in the classroom," Hurricane coach Brian Sutphin said. "The bottom line is that he's gotten it done every year. It's been a lot of fun to watch him grow, not only as a player but as a person."
