For the third time this year, the city of Greensboro is paying a settlement as part of a lawsuit related to a Greensboro police shooting.
City Attorney Chuck Watts announced at the end of Tuesday’s council meeting that Greensboro police Officer Matthew Sletten has reached a $450,000 settlement with Wakita Doriety, the mother of Nasanto Crenshaw, a 17-year-old from Fayetteville.
Watts said Wednesday the city is paying the settlement on behalf of Sletten. The Greensboro City Council authorized the settlement in a closed session on May 6.
The city of Greensboro was initially included as part of the lawsuit, but the claims against the city were dismissed.
