HONOLULU (Island News) -- Topics ranging from HPD Chief Joe Logan's final days ahead leading the department, to improving community safety - were addressed at this week's Honolulu Police Commission meeting:

Major staffing vacancies remain among the biggest issues.

Making a sudden announcement earlier in the week, Chief Logan is set to retire at the end of June.

Holding the position for roughly three years, he's faced significant challenges within the department including massive staffing vacancies. Concerns along with potential solutions in progress were highlighted Wednesday.

Logan stated, "We have eight individuals that are going to class, in class right now.... reserve officers we're bringing back on contract to hire them full-time, to be in schools, there will be three in each sch
