BOARDMAN TWP., Ohio - Eager fans lined up early at Boardman's Best Buy and GameStop stores early Wednesday for the midnight release of the Nintendo Switch 2.

The new gaming system, priced at $449.99, is a notable increase from the $300 cost of its predecessor when it launched eight years ago.

Nintendo says Switch 2 has improved hardware and expanded features. The system includes reimagined Joy-Con 2 controllers that can function as a mouse, a larger 7.9-inch full HD LCD screen, and enhanced processing speed.

New online features like "GameChat" allow up to 12 players to voice chat and up to four to video chat while playing. The system also introduces "GameShare," enabling multiple people to play the same game, even if only one person owns it.
