Scott Burt, a veteran coach as well as a former player in the ECHL, was named on Wednesday as the first head coach of the Greensboro Gargoyles, according to a news release.

Burt, 48, brings over 13 years of coaching experience to the Gargoyles. He comes to Greensboro after spending the past four seasons as head coach and general manager of the ECHL’s Rapid City Rush, earning 130 career coaching wins.

Prior to becoming the head coach in Rapid City, Burt served as an assistant coach for the ECHL’s Idaho Steelheads (2019-20) and the Alaska Aces (2011-2013), while also spending six seasons as an assistant coach with the Western Hockey League’s Spokane Chiefs from 2013-2019.
