MANCHESTER, N.H. —
City leaders in Laconia are trying to figure out how to afford to fix roads as they face a $23.5 million backlog in maintenance funding.
According to officials, the backlog includes about $12 million for reclaim and reconstruction and $11 million for overlays and shims.
"I got friends who come down here, they don't even want to come down here. 'I ain't coming down here. Look at that road,'" said Laconia resident Mike Foley.
Foley said his street, Appleton Street, has continued to deteriorate, and despite repeated promises, nothing has been done.
"Over two years, it's just been promise after another," he said. "It just keeps rolling. It's a snowball effect."
