BELLEVUE, Wash. — The Washington State Republican Party joined the effort to reform elections in the state and end voting by mail.
Initiative Measure No. IL23-126 would require voter ID and proof of citizenship to be able vote.
It would also require one day of in-person voting, hand-counted ballots, clean databases, and designating Election Day as a national holiday.
Organizers claim the changes would restore trust and transparency.
“Nobody takes responsibility for making sure that registered voters are actual citizens and otherwise legal voters,” said WAGOP Chairman Jim Walsh. “You press the Department of Licensing, and you press the Secretary of State, and they end up pointing fingers at each other.”
