13 Helicopter Rescues In 7 Days At Grand Canyon With The Summer Just Starting

Grand Canyon officials warned hikers and backpackers about the dangers of heat following a handful of rescues.

Over the past week, there have been 13 helicopter rescues at Grand Canyon National Park in northern Arizona.

According to the National Park Service , the medevac emergency missions have been responses to heat illness, dehydration, hyponatremia (low sodium from overhydration) and lower leg injuries.
