Multiple Maryland and Baltimore City agencies are responding to a 2,000-gallon fuel spill that began Wednesday in Harbor East.
At a press conference Thursday morning, local and state officials gave an update on the response to a diesel fuel spill in Baltimore’s Harbor East. The incident, which began Wednesday, has resulted in a multi-agency emergency operation involving more than 100 personnel.
The initial report came from Johns Hopkins Hospital at approximately 11 a.m. Wednesday, after a 200-gallon spill was identified at their East Baltimore facility. By 7 p.m., the volume was reassessed and determined to be approximately 2,000 gallons.
“Earlier today, during routine fuel delivery by a third-party vendor, two diesel tanks which power backup generators for our patient care facilities a
