CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - A man had to be transported to the hospital for smoke inhalation following a fire at a home in Cedar Rapids Thursday morning.

The Cedar Rapids Fire Department says crews were called to the 100-block of Ann Street SW at 7:32 a.m.

At the scene, firefighters found a manufactured home with a fire in the kitchen. Crews were able to get the fire out quickly.

A man and a dog were able to get out of the home safely, but the man had to be treated for smoke inhalation at UnityPoint Health - St. Luke’s Hospital.

Investigators say the fire was caused by improperly discarded smoking materials.
