VESTAL, N.Y. (WBNG) -- Wine sales make up a large portion of sales made at liquor stores across New York State.

The system enables both local stores and wineries in New York State to collaborate and bring regional products to store shelves.

However, New York State lawmakers are considering potentially repealing restrictions that prevent grocery stores from selling wine in their establishments.

This would mean that local grocery stores, such as Weis Markets or Price Chopper, would be allowed to sell wine in-store if the law is passed.

New York State Senator Liz Krueger proposed a law that would make it more convenient for shoppers to purchase wine alongside their groceries. The law also states it would allow more New York wineries to have their products displayed.
