AMHERST, MA (WGGB/WSHM) – Crews are working to repair a water main break on the UMass Amherst campus.
UMass Police said that the break occurred in the area of Commonwealth Avenue and Campus Center Way.
Amherst town officials added that residents may see an impact to their water service, including low water pressure, discolored water, or loss of service, particularly for those in North Amherst and in the higher elevations. If one experiences discolored water, it is encouraged to run the cold water until it is clear.
Traffic in and around that intersection, which is near the Mullins Center, will be effected, according to UMass Police. Drivers are being asked to seek alternate routes and avoid the area if possible.
Western Mass News has a crew at the scene and will have more information
