MOATSVILLE, W.Va. (WBOY) — A man has been charged after allegedly shooting a victim in the head in Barbour County.

On June 4, deputies with the Barbour County Sheriff's Department responded to a residence on White Road in Moatsville for a call of a man with a gunshot wound, according to a criminal complaint.

While en route, deputies learned that Christopher Bolyard, 34, of Philippi, had shot a man and was planning to "kill his family," deputies said.

The victim "was laying face down on the garage floor with a gunshot wound to the head," when deputies arrived but was "alert and conscious," according to the complaint. He told deputies that Bolyard "was drunk" and had "woken up and shot me with a .40," deputies said.
