WACO, Texas — After a postseason filled with comebacks, grit, and walk-off victories, the Midway Panthers baseball team is headed to the 6A Division I state championship game—just one win away from claiming their first state title in two decades.

Midway clinched its spot in Saturday’s final at Dell Diamond by taking down Prosper in a hard-fought Game 3 last week. Their next opponent, the Atascocita Eagles, was a team that mirrors the Panthers in more ways than one.

“They’re gritty too,” said Midway head coach Eddie Cornblum. “They do a lot of little things right. They really can run. Watching them play reminds us of us.”

That sense of similarity is something Midway believes could play in their favor.
