CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Michael Barnette, the man charged in connection with a home explosion in Dilworth last month , will remain behind bars after a Mecklenburg County judge ordered Friday that he be held without bond.
Barnette was arrested in Chicago on May 10 as a fugitive of justice out of North Carolina. He was extradited to Mecklenburg County from Cook County, Illinois, on Thursday. He's facing numerous charges, including first-degree arson in connection with the case. The defense argued for Barnette to receive bond, but the judge deemed him a flight risk and denied bond. His next court date is set for June 27.
Investigators say they found gas trails inside the home, which exploded on Lombardy Circle on May 2. Prosecutors argued in court Friday that Barnette has been uncooperative since
