BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- Horror films tend to lean into one major phobia as a way of scaring moviegoers. It could be the fear of the dark or spiders or even running chainsaws with a masked psychopath at the other end.

Sean Byrne didn’t just focus on one fear for his film “Dangerous Animals” but looked to create scares with a multiple of phobias -- drowning, kidnapping, sharks, psycho killers and even bigger sharks. To be fair, the sharks add an element of scares but in this case the sea creatures are not painted as the real villains of the piece.

It ends up that man is the most dangerous animal in the production. How dangerous man can be can be seen in local theaters when “Dangerous Animals” opens June 6.
