A woman was seriously injured when the motorcycle she was a passenger on crashed in Chaplin on Wednesday, throwing her and the male operator from the bike.

The incident was reported on Bates Road around 9:40 p.m. when a man driving south on a Yamaha XVS1300 failed to negotiate a curve in the road, according to the Connecticut State Police . The bike crossed over the northbound lane and crashed in the shoulder, state police said.

Both riders were ejected from the bike, including the 44-year-old Windsor Locks woman who was a passenger. She was taken in an ambulance to Windham Hospital before being transported aboard Life Star to Hartford Hospital with suspected serious injuries, according to state police.
